Events & Extra-Curricular Activities

The Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA), Hennepin County Bar Association and the Ramsey County Bar Association host CLE and networking events with free or reduced-cost admittance for law students. Any event sponsored by the MSBA Business Law Section qualifies as an Extra-Curricular Activity for Business Law Certificate students. MSBA also distributes a monthly law student email that includes information about upcoming events. Email Nicole Battles, Membership Outreach Manager, to join the list.

Many minority bar associations have a parallel student chapter that works with them. Learn more about them by talking with our faculty and student groups:

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to build experience for your resume. Below are some non-profit organizations that are regularly looking for volunteers:

  • AccountAbility Minnesota provides tax and financial services for those in need.
  • HOME Line is a tenant advocacy organization.
  • Project Homeless Connect: the Minneapolis chapter holds one-day events at the Minneapolis Convention Center to connect the homeless with multiple services.
  • ProJustice MN is a source for meeting aspirational pro bono hours (and practical experience) that also provides networking opportunities and CLEs.

BLA Student Business Law Association

The Business Law Association (BLA) is a student organization that provides a platform for students to explore their interest in business law through discussion and networking with business professionals. To learn more about BLA and find out how to join, please email bla@hamlinesba.com.
