You're invited to attend the Minnesota Court of Appeals Visit with The Honorable Kevin G. Ross, The Honorable Louise Dovre Bjorkman, The Honorable Michael L. Kirk.
The Minnesota Court of Appeals will hear three oral arguments at Hamline University School of Law. The arguments will begin at 9:30 a.m., 10:05 a.m., and 10:40 a.m. Students are allowed to enter and leave between arguments. No reservations are required, and seating is first come first serve. Below are the cases along with a brief description.
9:30 a.m. (A12-1673): An appeal from a decision of the board of nursing, to suspend a nursing license indefinitely, based on violations of a consent decree that had previously imposed conditions on the nurse’s license.
10:05 a.m. (A12-0833): An appeal from a conviction for second-degree intentional murder, with issues relating to the state’s failure to preserve the vehicle in which the body was found, comments made during the prosecutor’s closing argument, the closing of the courtroom during jury instructions and closing arguments by the attorneys, and an order for the payment of restitution.
10:40 a.m. (A12-1988): An appeal from the denial of unemployment benefits, based on a finding of misconduct.
