Hamline Law is pleased to announce that the faculty has approved the new competitions program. The new program will be implemented immediately, so the deadlines for participating next year in any Hamline Law-sponsored student competition (e.g., moot court, negotiation, mock trial, etc.) are fast approaching.
The new competitions program:
1.) Creates a uniform tryout process called “Competitions Week” during the spring semester;
2.) Provides students and coaches with a meaningful opportunity to meet before Competitions Week;
3.) Uses formal selection criteria for interested students;
4.) Seeds competitions based on a combination of student preferences, student tryout scores, coach preferences, and the needs of the competitions program;
5.) Creates a student competitions board comprised of participating students.
Students are invited to two informational meetings (with free pizza) to learn more about the competitions program and to meet the coaches of the various competitions. If you are interested in participating in a competition, you will then sign up for a tryout time slot and submit a competition preference sheet and any other required materials (e.g., a writing sample). You will then try out during Competitions Week. If you are selected, you will compete next year.
Important dates and deadlines:
Wednesday, March 13, 5:30 p.m., Moot Court Room: Informational Meeting (pizza)
Sunday, March 17, 11:45 a.m., Room 101: Informational Meeting (pizza)
Friday, March 22, 5 p.m.: Deadline for student signup and submission of Competition Preference Sheets/Writing Samples

Students cannot participate in a Hamline Law-sponsored competition next year unless they participate in Competitions Week.
