News_Barclift_Jill

Professor Jill Barclift has been named director of Hamline Law's Business Law Institute, effective immediately and through at least June 2014.

Professor Barclift has taught at Hamline Law since 2002. For more than 15 years prior to her arrival at Hamline, she practiced law as an in-house corporate attorney with an extensive background in financial services. This experience has shaped both her teaching and her scholarship.

While at Hamline, Professor Barclift has taught a wide range of courses in the business law curriculum, including core courses in corporations, corporate finance, and securities regulation, and smaller seminars in corporate ethics and preventive law and corporate practice. Her scholarly research and writing has explored the role of corporate officers in corporate governance, the role of internal lawyers in corporate governance, and the intersection of social science theory and corporate governance.

Professor Barclift’s extensive record of service to Hamline Law also includes prior service as director of Hamline’s externship program. According to Dean Donald M. Lewis, “her background, coupled with her ‘real-world’ corporate experience, makes her ideally suited to lead BLI.”

Founding Director Ann Graham recently resigned from her position as BLI director. Professor Graham will continue to make strong contributions to Hamline Law as a tenured professor on the law faculty.
