Swanson publishes article in Tennessee Law Review

Professor Steven Swanson's article, "Forcing Facebook on Foreign Dictators: A Violation of International Law?" was recently published in the Tennessee Law Review (79 Tennessee Law Review 851 (2012)).

During the "Arab Spring," several dictators severed Internet access in order to stifle dissent. The article discusses whether international law should prevent the United States from using technological means to reestablish access. It concludes that the Internet has become a basic human right, allowing the U.S. or other countries to take minimally invasive actions to restore this vital link to information and communication.
