Welcome to Hamline University School of Law’s (HUSL) Academic Success Program. The Academic Success Program, in conjunction with the law school curriculum and programs in general, is committed to providing Hamline University law students with the resources needed to realize academic success in law school. HUSL provides the services of this program to all law students from the time you begin classes to the time you sit for the Bar exam.
The Academic Success Program (ASP) offers a number of programs designed to help all students maximize their potential for successful learning and enhance performance in law school. The programs are designed to meet the variety of learning styles and needs of the full-time and part-time, weekday and weekend, students at the law school. The program focuses on the process involved in developing skills necessary to succeed in law school and practice as a lawyer. These skills include the ability to understand (brief), organize (outline), and apply the law in a law exam setting (exam writing) as well as time and stress management, effective study methods, and independent critical legal thinking.
The program assists first year students to adjust to the new style of legal learning and writing. Workshops are offered to all students wishing to master skills essential for law school achievement. Individual and group skills development, academic counseling, and content review are also available to all students.
Academic Success Program tutors are available to meet with any student to work on a variety of issues. HUSL encourages you to take advantage of the opportunity for additional support and focus for your development as a critical legal thinker.
The ASP offices are located in the northwest corner of the second floor of the Law School. They are most easily accessed by taking the stairwell in the NW corner to the second floor and going straight into the hallway containing offices 202A, 202B, 202C, and 202D.
If you have questions about, or want to take advantage of, any of the programs or services offered by ASP, please contact any of the tutors.
