Learning at Hamline

Hamline's alternative dispute resolution (ADR) program is ranked third in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. We have launched a Health Law Center that focuses on the burgeoning growth of health law, federal regulation of the healthcare system, tort reform, medical device development and regulation, and bio-ethics. In addition to our two centers, the robust Law School curriculum supports ten organized tracks of study or concentrations to help student maximize their experience in these fields.

Hamline's eleven clinics offer opportunities to gain real experience in litigation, transactional practice and mediation in a wide variety of civil and criminal areas of law. Moot court and similar competitions help students refine speaking and writing skills through inter-school competitions judged and critiqued by members of bench and bar. Our practicum program allows students to learn law and lawyering skills in an actual legal setting under the direction of an individual mentor attorney.

Professors

Our new faculty members join a nationally recognized faculty for scholarship and academic leadership in dispute resolution, commercial law, state constitutional law, and many other fields. All Hamline faculty are committed to an "open door" policy to help students learn and enjoy the law. An emphasis on seminars allows students to learn in small classes, make presentations, and create original research on topics of their interest, thus ensuring that students work closely with Hamline's dedicated faculty throughout their law school experience. Our professors pride themselves on knowing their students' names, and they work closely with our student body as mentors.

The First Year Curriculum

At Hamline, you select the scheduling option that works best for you. We offer full-time weekday and part-time weekend options. We pride ourselves on our excellent Legal Writing program, which is taught by full-time legal writing instructors, and our rigorous first-year courses, taught by experienced full-time faculty members.

Academic Success Program

The Academic Success Program, in conjunction with the law school curriculum and programs in general, is committed to providing Hamline University law students with the resources needed to realize academic success in law school. HUSL provides the services of this program to all law students from the time you begin classes to the time you sit for the Bar exam.

Focus areas

Our focus areas represent a wide array of interests. Hamline houses the Dispute Resolution Institute on campus, and a new Health Law Center is set to debut in the fall of 2006. These two centers supplement the twelve organized tracks of study, which maximize students' experiences in their chosen field of study. Our twelve focus areas are:

Degree Options
