All gifts designated for the Hamline University School of Law directly impact important programs, scholarships, and initiatives within the law school. Support for the law school is separate from gifts to the University and used exclusively for the law school.
Gifts may be restricted for a specific current use, for endowment, or they may be unrestricted, giving the law school administration the flexibility to respond to unexpected opportunities or challenges. Whatever the purpose of the gift, the support our benefactors provide enhances every aspect of the legal education we provide for our students.
Scholarship support becomes more critical each year as the cost of a legal education becomes less and less affordable, even with the availability of student loans. Programs like the Dispute Resolution Institute (DRI), Moot Court, and the legal clinics rely on donor support to continue to benefit the community and offer students real legal experience, thus enhancing their ability to practice after graduation.
New ventures such as the Health Law Institute require start up funding and annual support. Each new venture is designed to enhance our student experience and prepare them use their legal education in ways that benefit them and society.

Participation of our alumni and friends, regardless of gift amount, is important to our law school. Gifts in any amount are helpful, and our recognized donor levels are as follows:
$1,000 and over: Justice Society
$500 - $999: Law Society
$250 - $499: Law Advocate Society
$150 - $249: Amicus Society
$149 or less: Benefactor
