CLE: 12 credits to be applied for Location: Minneapolis Campus Consultation Parenting Consulting is a child-focused Alternative Dispute Resolution Process that assists high-conflict parents in resolving disputes regarding parenting issues. This two-day training provides a practical overview of the knowledge, skills and procedures essential to become a Parenting Consultant (PC). This training is based on the training requirements outlined by the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and adapted to Minnesota practice. This training will cover: The Parenting Consulting process, Family Dynamics in Separation and Divorce, Parenting Consulting Techniques and Issues, an overview of Minnesota Family Law and Domestic Violence Issues. 40-hour Family Mediation Skills

This five-day course provides trainees with a family mediation structure, emphasizes mediator tools and strategies for effective communication and resolution and teaches a positive approach to solving legal issues related to divorce and post-decree matters that not only reduces tension in the family but also leads to innovative solutions. The session includes a mixture of multi-media presentations, demonstration of a family mediation session, skills practice, hands-on exercises, role plays and real life examples. It also includes psycho-dynamics of divorce, family law, domestic abuse issues, and ethical concerns.
