Ever wonder what makes compliance and ethics officers effective? Many learned just that at a program sponsored by Hamline's Health Law Institute on November 11. Guest speaker Dan Roach, Vice President, Compliance & Audit, Catholic Healthcare West, and Co-Chair of the Society of Corporate Compliance & EthicsAdvisory Board, spoke to 61 students, compliance officers, attorneys, faculty and staff on "The Seven Habits of an Effective Compliance & Ethics Officer," which he said include: (1) studying human behavior, (2) life-long learning; (3) positioning yourself for success, (4) problem-solving, (5) aligning incentives, (6) being courageous and (7) being a role model. An audio recording of the program is available on the Hamline web site (Podcasts link from main page).
Following the presentation, there was a reception to celebrate the recently-accredited Health Care Compliance Certificate program.
