Hamline students Samantha Harker, KrisAnn Norby-Jahner, and Noelle Volin emerged as the regional winners of the National Moot Court Competition held in St. Paul on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Hamline had two teams at the competition and both Hamline teams beat competitors from the University of Minnesota, which meant that two Hamline teams faced each other in the regional finals. Technically, Hamline came in both first and second place when the second Hamline team comprised of students Ryan Flynn and Jenifer Kopischke also bested their U of M competitors. Flynn also received the best oralist award, a considerable individual honor.
National Moot Court Competition rules prohibit multiple winners from the same law school moving onto the national competition so our second place team will not compete at nationals. Still, Hamline will be well-represented when the top team heads to the national competition in New York in January. Kudos also go to their coaches, Hamline alums Joshua Dorothy and Nadege Souvenir (standing above).
