Mid-Winter Reception to be held at RKMC on January 22
The firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi will once again host Hamline's annual Mid-Winter reception, which is set for January 22, 2009. In keeping with tradition, food and refreshments promise to dazzle and delight. The real attraction of the reception, of course, is the opportunity to socialize with fellow alumni, Hamline faculty, and members of the bench and bar. The Mid-Winter Reception is the best attended social event of the season for Hamline University School of Law alumni, faculty, staff, friends and many members of the judiciary.
Event host and Hamline alumnus Chris Messerly, a partner at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, has noted that, "The Mid-Winter Reception has become the most popular and best attended Hamline alumni event. If alumni can only attend one Hamline event this year, the Mid-Winter Reception is the one to make."

TopDean’s Dinner Draws Record Crowd
Harvard Law Professor Charles J. Ogletree (left) provided a memorable keynote address at 2008 Hamline Law Dean's Dinner. He traced the idea of "We the People" from the founding fathers, to Dred Scott, to Lyndon B. Johnson, finally to his former Harvard Law student and U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama.
Professor Ogletree is the Harvard Law School Jesse Climenko Professor of Law, and founding and executive director of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice. Dean Lewis introduced Professor Ogletree and reminiscenced about their days as students at Harvard Law School in the 1970s. Hamline University President Linda Hanson began the evening by introducing Dean Lewis, and noting that Hamline Law School alumni most recently achieved among the highest bar passage rates in the state.

TopSix Minute Social Connects Alumni and Students
The Culture Committee of the Hamline Law Alumni Association Board hosted a Six Minute Social at Gabe's in St. Paul earlier this month. The fun evening gave Hamline law students the opportunity to network with Hamline alumni and to learn more about various areas of practice or other ways in which alumni are using their law degrees. During the evening, students rotated among alumni, spending six minutes speaking with each professional. Thank you to all the wonderful alumni who helped to make this evening a success!
