Directing the legal writing program, Professor Silkey strives to offer writing and research classes that allow students to stretch their abilities, develop critical legal skills, and ultimately learn how to articulate their thoughts and ideas on the law through writing.

Prior to joining Hamline's School of Law faculty, Professor Silkey was an adjunct professor of legal research and writing at William Mitchell College of Law and was a solo practitioner in the areas of estate planning, wills and trusts, and real estate.
