Hometown: West Bloomfield, MI

Undergraduate School and Degree : Western Michigan University (BA), Political Science with a public law concentration, and minors in English and Sociology.

Why a career in law? I enjoyed my undergrad classes that pertained to government and law, and had a great pre-law advisor. After working for a marketing firm out of undergrad, I realized I wanted to pursue more education and chose law.

Why did you choose Hamline? Initially, I was intrigued with the Dispute Resolution Institute, but once I got here I realized that the friendly faculty and non-competitive environment suited me well. In addition, the Health Law Institute motivated my current pursuit into the field of health care compliance.

Describe the Hamline culture: For the most part, it's relatively non-competitive and relaxed atmosphere of driven and dedicated students. Most students are able to focus on school while still finding time to get involved in organizations and extra-curricular activities.

Which law student organizations are you involved with at HUSL? I have served as a class representative of the SBA and Vice President of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. Currently, I am in the LexisNexis Student Representative for Hamline.

Goals after law school: I aspire to work in the compliance or legal department of a hospital or clinic after graduation.

Favorite Twin Cities activity: Having BBQs with friends during the summer.

What do you like to do to stay active? I play basketball and jog along the Mississippi.

What's playing on your MP3 player now? Coldplay & Jack's Mannequin

One thing you wish you had known before starting law school: Organize your notes throughout the year, and begin outlining right away. This can be very difficult to implement into your weekly planning.
