Susan Schaffer is an attorney in solo practice in St. Paul. She routinely represents health care providers in administrative proceedings before the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the Minnesota Department of Human Services on investigations and enforcement actions. She also defends individual health professionals in licensing actions and investigations. She advises providers on operational matters, such as employment issues, rental agreements for senior housing, and sensitive resident and family dilemmas. She is a frequent lecturer to providers on corporate compliance issues. She contributed to the book Fifty State Survey of Certificate of Need and Licensure: Nursing Homes, Assisted Living, Home Health and Hospice by Ari J. Markeson and Carrie Kissick Rabbitt, editors.  On April 27, 2009 she participated in Teaching in the Moment: A Workshop on Curriculum Development sponsored by the University of Minnesota School of Law and the Society of American Law Teachers.  She  co-teaches the Health Law Clinic with Lindsay Davis.
