Since 2000, Ms. Colombo has served as an independent legal and policy consultant, providing advice to corporate, individual and nonprofit clients.  She is also a qualified mediator providing strategic alliance mediation services to corporate health care clients.  Ms. Colombo is an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas, William Mitchell College of Law and Hamline University School of Law. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Animal Humane Society.

From 1997 to April 2000, Ms. Colombo served as the Director of the Center for Health Law & Policy at William Mitchell College of Law.  She was responsible for all substantive aspects of the Center including the development and execution of a multi-year strategic plan, fiscal management, curriculum development, teaching, research and publication.

From 1991 to 1998, Ms. Colombo served as the Assistant Commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Health.   Her responsibilities included the regulation of HMOs and other managed care entities, long-term care facilities, local public health delivery systems, maternal and child health, and various health occupations.  She was involved in numerous health care reform measures and rule-making efforts. Ms. Colombo graduated with honors from William Mitchell College of Law in 1988 and practiced with the law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller and Ciresi in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury and products liability through 1991. 

Ms. Colombo graduated from the College of St. Teresa with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1981.  From 1981 through 1987, she practiced as a critical care registered nurse with St. Mary's Hospital-Rochester, the University of Minnesota Hospital, and Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
