With a reputation for understanding the complex tax law issues that confront individuals, non-profit organizations, and small businesses, Professor Deal teaches how individuals and entities can do well by doing good.

Professor Deal teaches in the area of non-profits and small business planning, taxation of individuals, alternative dispute resolution, and legal advocacy. She is an appeals judge for the
Minneapolis Public Housing Authority and serves on several non-profit boards. She also served UNICEF-Atlanta as a staff member during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games.

She has taught international dispute resolution, introduced advocacy techniques to visiting African attorneys, and taught Italian law students during Hamline's faculty exchange with the University of Modena. She created and currently supervises Hamline's extensive Moot Court Program, and also advises student teams participating in interscholastic competitions.

Professor Deal has taught courses in business planning, taxation and legal writing. In addition, she has supervised students in client representation in housing and tax cases.
