"Hamline has always been a student-centered law school. To me this means at least being accessible to students. Moreover, it means being academically rigorous and maintaining the high expectations that experience has shown our students can meet. Only by guiding students to reach their full potential will we have served them well, and prepared them to serve society and justice well."

Professor Martin joined the faculty after five years at Dorsey & Whitney, where he specialized in labor law and civil litigation. He is a frequent lecturer in continuing legal education programs in workers' compensation and employment law and currently serves as the commissioner's representative on the Minnesota Rehabilitation Review Panel.

Martin is listed as a neutral arbitrator with the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services, is a referee for Hennepin County Conciliation Court, and an arbitrator in labor disputes. He has been on the executive committee of the Labor Law Section of the Association of American Law Schools
