As university-wide director for conflict studies, Professor Fox teaches and works with Hamline's Graduate Schools of Public Administration, Management and Education, the Undergraduate College of Liberal Arts and the School of Law, bringing an interdisciplinary approach to the study of conflict and constructive conflict response. He works closely with the School of Law's Dispute Resolution Institute and negotiation moot court program.

Fox is a nationally known mediation teacher, trainer and presenter. He is active in the dispute resolution professional community, serving on state, national and international boards, committees and grant-funded projects. He has designed dispute resolution programs and systems for electric utilities, state and federal agencies, courts, schools and universities. He serves on a select national roster of trainers for the United States Postal Service's nation-wide REDRESS workplace mediation program.

Fox has taken students to study social conflict in Northern Ireland, taught community mediation in England has consulted in the development of conflict programs in several European countries. He recently served as a U.S. State Department Fulbright Senior Specialist grantee in law/peace and conflict resolution studies. Through that program, Fox taught mediation and conflict theory at the Riga Graduate School of Law in Latvia and advised local attorneys in court-annexed and healthcare ADR program design. He is currently working on several civic education projects with Palestinian, Israeli and Jordanian educators for middle and high schools in the Middle East.

Fox served as judicial extern to the Honorable Otto R. Skopil of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In his law practice, he represented government, agency and private parties. He has served as a court-appointed mediator in state and bankruptcy courts and initiated a nationally recognized lawyers' assistance to the homeless program.
