Students in Hamline's part-time program appreciate a flexible weekend format while learning from passionate professors who are experts in their fields. Weekend students are able to fulfill their dream of earning a juris doctor degree in four years while working full-time and maintaining personal and professional obligations. Many Hamline weekend program alumni say earning their J.D. led to career advancement in their current field or the exciting launch of an entirely new legal or related career.
Our part-time weekend program provides:
- A flexible part-time schedule
- Full-time, tenured faculty members and expert adjunct professors
- Nationally recognized Institutes in Dispute Resolution and Health Law
- Experiential learning, study abroad, and research opportunities
- Supportive, student-centered learning environment
- Close-knit student body
Flexible Weekend Structure
Classes are offered on Saturday and Sunday during the day at Hamline School of Law. Weekend students typically fulfill all graduation requirements within four years. In their first and second semesters, students must take eleven credit hours. After that, they are required to register for eight to eleven credits each Fall and Spring semester.

2009-2010 First year weekend schedule
Like our full-time program, first year courses and required seminars are taught by full-time law professors. The upper-class electives are taught mainly by full-time professors, as well as adjuncts who are experienced practitioners or judges.
Supportive Learning Environment
Student services are available on the weekend, as well as during normal business hours. Our Dean of Students, Registrar, and Career Services professionals are all available for weekend students. In addition, we offer a first rate Academic Success Program for all Hamline law students.
Weekend classes begin in mid-August. Classes will not meet the following weekends - Labor Day, MEA (usually 3rd weekend in October), Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break and Easter. View the 2009-2010 Academic Calendar.
